- Not all students are tech savvy, and those who aren't will have problems setting it up and using it
- Blogs are so personal that marking can only be subjective. How do I assign a grade to an opinion?
- Student Blogs may turn out to be isolated without classmates comments. Do all students plan to comment on each others Blogs?
- With 130 Blogs to mark, what is a resonable time allowance for this?
- Is Blogging really Active Learning or is it just another self-directed learning strategy?

Wow - all good points! Personally, I would mark the blog with a rubric that looks at things like the quality of research, structure of the argument, etc. Same way I would assign grades to opinion pieces submitted in other ways. I would probably also build in a requirement to respond to X number of blog entries - kind of like making students show up for Y presentations. Finally, I don't believe that the blog itself is the active learning piece - it's the tool used to engage students in the active pieces which is researching, expressing opinions and interacting with each other.
